It's fine. ESPECIALLY if you have brown eyes. Brown/gold eyeshadows go fine with anything. Makeup is supposed to match your face more than your clothing.

Go for it! I think it'll look great. Very classy. Especially if you have brown eyes! If you're really that worried about it, why not try wearing some gold earrings to accentuate the gold color in the shadow?
you're not supposed to match you're eye shadow with your clothes. you should wear a shimmery teal color. but just a little bit on your lower lid and use a highlighter on your brow bone.

It will look fine. Did you know that you aren't supposed to match your make-up to what you are wearing? You are supposed to match it to what looks good on your eyes. If your eyes look good in brown/gold then I think it will look absolutely great! Go get 'em tiger!
I'm not a fan of trying to ';match'; eyeshadow to one's clothing. I think the important thing is that the make-up compliments your skin tone and it appropriate for the event your going to.

I have brown eyes, so after hearing this tip I nearly always use browns, golds, rusty reddish hues, and greens.

I don't think it will clash at all. Depending on your skin tone, goldish/brown looks good anytime, doesn't matter what you're wearing.
